The mission of the Mark D. Truskie Foundation is to help protect the health and safety of those suffering from schizophrenia and bipolar mental disorders. To this end, we provide grants to programs and projects that offer new methods that infuse treatments with a very high expectation of recovery – by relying less on medication and more on counseling, and engaging families and communities.
The Foundation’s grants are focused on treating schizoaffective and bipolar mental disorders. We have a special interest in creating change in behavioral healthcare delivery at both the grassroots and systematic levels. The foundation supports projects and programs that combat mental illness stigma, promote knowledge and understanding, advocate for the integration of mental healthcare services into larger healthcare systems, improve health outcomes of both physical and behavioral health, and promote treatment that relies less on medication and more on counseling, and engaging families and communities.
